From a Love of Home to a Curated Collection
A Letter from Our Founder
Dear Friends,
A Cottage in the City began in a small town on Long Island with a simple belief: home should feel cozy and meaningful.
When I opened our little brick-and-mortar shop in Sayville, NY, my goal was to create a warm, welcoming space filled with timeworn treasures, antique-inspired pieces, and modern farmhouse staples — the kinds of things that make people feel instantly at home.
Though we eventually closed our physical doors, the heart of A Cottage in the City has only grown. In many ways, moving online has allowed us to reach more homes, connect with more kindred spirits, and curate an even more thoughtful collection. Today, our purpose feels stronger than ever: to help you create a space that reflects your story, no matter where you are.
Every item in our shop is hand-selected with one question in mind: Would I love this in my own home? If the answer isn’t yes, you won't find it at A Cottage in the City.
From reclaimed wood to embroidered linens, I choose each piece for its ability to bring warmth, texture, and quiet beauty into a home. This isn’t about following trends — it’s about telling your story, thoughtfully and personally.
Thank you for letting us be part of your home.
Warmly,
Sara Minichiello
