Payment Methods

We currently accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover Card, and PayPal. All payments made online through A Cottage in the City are safe and secure and are processed through our secure server using SSL Secure Certificate.

Shipping

We know you are excited to receive your beautiful items but please allow up to 15 business days for your items to ship. Furniture and Lighting can take up to 4-6 weeks to ship. We will notify you if pieces from your order are back ordered beyond this time frame. Once your order ships we will email you a shipping confirmation so that you may track your items. Many of our items are custom made to order and/or ship direct from our vendors and artisans. These items will often have an extended shipping timeframe which will be noted on the product page. Please note that the above are estimated shipping timeframes only and cannot be guaranteed by A Cottage in the City. In the rare occasion your item becomes backordered, you will be notified by email immediately to discuss your shipping options.

All orders are shipped via UPS, FedEx or USPS with shipping costs being calculated by the weight of the item(s) purchased, the method of shipping chosen at checkout, and the destination address. For all international orders please contact A Cottage in the City for a specified shipping quote before purchasing. Please Note: There may be additional custom and duty fees, which are the responsibility of the customer. These are in addition to, and not included in, the cost of shipping. We are obligated to declare all items as merchandise and are not able to mark items as "gift". Unfortunately, we cannot ship to P.O. boxes.

* Please note several of our product lines feature standard free shipping (within the 48 contiguous states only). International orders are not eligible for free shipping. If you order an item with free shipping and are outside the 48 contiguous states you will be billed for shipping or the order will be canceled. If you order an item that offers free shipping in addition to one or more regular items, you will be charged only for the shipping costs for the regular shipping item(s). If you would like your free shipping item(s) shipped using an alternative method please contact A Cottage in the City for a shipping quote.

Sales Tax

Sales tax of 8.625% is added to all items shipped to a New York address.

Out of Stock Items

If you would like to purchase an item that is currently out of stock, please email us at info@acottageinthecity.com and we can either order the product directly for you or inform you when the product will be back in stock.

Returns

Custom made to order, vintage items, holiday items, sale items, bedding and body products, and some oversized items, including furniture and lighting, are not eligible for return or exchange and are considered final sale. If you are unsure if the item you are ordering is considered final sale, please contact us before placing your order. For these final sale items we encourage our customers to view all descriptions, measurements, and photos, as well as contact us with any questions before purchasing. Items that are eligible for return or exchange, can be returned for a merchandise credit or exchange, less all shipping fees, which is good for one year from date of return. Items returned must be in original condition. Select furniture & lighting can be returned or exchanged, excluding custom made items, less all shipping fees plus a 20% restocking fee. If you are uncertain which furniture and/or lighting is returnable with a restocking fee, please contact us to verify before purchasing. A Cottage in the City wants its customers to be completely satisfied with their purchases and shopping experience so if you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason please contact us for a return authorization within 7 days of receiving your item. Upon review we will email you a return authorization and further instructions. Return shipping is the responsibility of the customer. Please note: returns will not be accepted without prior authorization.

Canceling Furniture, Lighting And Custom Orders

Once you have placed your order you have up to 48 hours to contact us to cancel any custom order and/or furniture or lighting order and have the amount refunded to your credit card. After 48 hours, custom orders and/or furniture and lighting orders are non-refundable. These non-refundable orders include all furniture and lighting, personalized or monogrammed items, custom made to order Sugarboo Designs, and anything else that is made to order. If you are uncertain if what you are ordering is considered a custom order, and can not be canceled after 48 hours, please contact us to verify.

Damaged Items

If you receive an item that is damaged or defective please notify A Cottage in the City within 24hrs of receiving the item. We will email you a return authorization with instructions for returning the damaged or defective merchandise and send you a replacement free of shipping. If you no longer would like the item that you received damaged you will be issued a merchandise credit for the item plus applicable shipping. *If your package appears to have been damaged in transit, please take pictures of damaged outer packaging as pictures will be needed to file a claim with the shipping carrier. For freight and white glove deliveries, please inspect your items before signing delivery slip to ensure there has been no damage.

Holiday Returns

For items purchased from November 1st through December 25th of a given calendar year, the return/exchange date is extended out to January 10th of the following calendar year. Please note that the holiday return policy refers to in-stock items ONLY and all the policies above still apply.

Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide while visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so. We may use your personal information to send you promotional information about third parties which we think you may find interesting if you tell us that you wish this to happen.

A Cottage in the City reserves the right to make changes to any policy. Policy changes will be posted.
